Centre's Mandate
The mandate of the Centre is four fold:
- Mainstreaming disaster risk reduction strategies;
- Community Based Disaster Management;
- Assessing the impact of climate change
on agriculture and livelihoods; and
- Evolving climate resilient agriculture and
adaptation strategies.
Objectives
The key objective of the Centre is systematic observation and analysis of disasters
to improve measures relating to prevention, mitigation, preparedness, emergency
response and recovery; mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) as a policy objective
in all developmental efforts encompassing all the measures needed to achieve this
policy objective and developing a culture of disaster resilience and climate change
adaptation strategies.
