Centre's Mandate
The centre is mandated to develop a committed and competent cadre of Rural Development
Management Professionals in the country and build the capacity of a wide range of
stakeholders via full-time and distance mode programmes.
Currently the Centre is offering the following programs in Distance Mode
- Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Rural Development (PGDSRD)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Tribal Development Management (PGDTDM)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Geo Special Application in Rural Development (PGDGARD)
- DIPLOMA PROGRAMME ON PANCHAYATI RAJ GOVERNANCE & RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DP-PRGRD) jointly
offered by NIRDPR and Central University Hyderabad
Objectives
The objectives of the centre are to enhance
- Expertise in planning and management of rural development programmes with focus
on participatory development and innovation.
- Competence in revamping the development delivery systems for improved delivery of
services.
- Right attitudes and values necessary for rural development professionals.

Positive thinking and leadership qualities.
- Understanding of the processes of
skill building, productivity, quality and value addition.
- Ability to build rural
organisations and develop human resources amongst the rural poor.
