Areas of significant contribution

Rural Development – Inclusive livelihood improvements

  1. Planning and development of watershed areas for sustainable livelihood of the people in rain-fed areas.
  2. Organising Self-Help Groups of women and promoting sustainable livelihood activities
  3. Planning, execution of irrigation projects and prescribing the cropping pattern for such projects through participatory rural appraisal techniques.
  4. Integrated Tribal Development through participatory planning and inclusive execution.
  5. Promoting water conservation through voluntary effort and involvement of Panchayat Raj Institutions.
  6. Revitalising the cooperative movement in dairy sector of Kerala and turning around the business of Kerala Cooperative Milk Federation, India.
  7. Promoting productivity of livestock through artificial insemination in Kerala State.

Governance Improvement

  1. Promoting good governance through application of ICT in district developmental administration.
  2. Streamlining vigilance administration and institutionalising ICT packages for vigilance case monitoring, document management systems, vigilance clearance administration, etc.

International Assignments

  1. As member of Indian delegation, actively negotiated the “UN Convention against Corruption” during 2003-04 at Vienna, Austria and Merida, Mexico and enabled finalisation of the Convention. India has become the signatory of the Convention.

Agriculture Transformation in India

  1. Promoting agricultural marketing reforms in India to promote legal space for private investments , direct marketing and contract farming.
  2. Conceptualising and formulating the policy framework for setting up of Modern Terminal Markets, formulating the bidding process for public private partnership in setting up terminal markets.
  3. Streamlining the implementation of various schemes of agricultural marketing infrastructure creation through use of ICT application.
  4. Conceptualising and formulating a policy for facilitation of export of perishables through single window clearance system.
  5. Providing policy inputs for realising the potential of agriculture and addressing various competitiveness challenges.
  6. Formulation of Plan for agricultural marketing infrastructure creation for XI Five Year Plan of India.

Plant Protection and Quarantine

  1. Modernized plant protection and quarantine systems by infusing ICT, training, reviewing and updating all procedure manuals for pesticide management, quarantine management, training etc.
  2. Modernised the training infrastructure by transforming National Plant Protection Training Institute(NPPTI), Hyderabad into an autonomous National Institute of Plant Health Management (NIPHM)
  3. Launched e-pest surveillance, a major shift in surveillance and quarantine approach
  4. Instrumental in institutionalising Plant Quarantine compliance for export of mango from India to USA, Australia and Japan in 2006-07.
  5. Enabled effective review of Pest Risk Analysis systems for number of crops.
  6. Restructured the legal frame work of Pesticide management in India and instrumental in formulating modern Pesticide Management Act which is under the consideration of the Parliament of India.

Continued Innovation in outreach to Farmers

Continued to explore the options of “out reach to the farmers” for enabling them to reach out to the technology. VIRTUAL AGRI SERVICES an IT platform was conceptualised, developed, and rolled out for the use of the farmers.

Areas of Special Interest

Being from a farming family, have high affinity to agriculture and excited to work in agriculture sector. Personal passion for making the lives of farming community better and enable them to lead respectable lives. I wish to strive for taking the farming activity in developing world to higher orbit of profitable agribusiness activity. Well conversant with lives of farmers, their potential and problems. Also familiar with the policy setting of agriculture sector nationally and internationally. Working in the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, an abode of agriculture policy making for the country, had been highly satisfying and got the insights into policy making and execution of various programmes for the betterment of farmers.

Also developed expertise in project making, project management and mentoring of Youth.
