Centre's Mandate

Analysing the determining factors of rural infrastructure for enhancing the capacities of rural people on a sustainable basis through research, action research and consultancy efforts

Objectives

  • To create fully-equipped and highly competent professionals for planning and management of rural infrastructure programmes.
  • To facilitate rural infrastructure promotion with focus on the rural poor by upgrading the knowledge and skills and changing the attitudes of rural development officials, PRI representatives and non-officials through organising training programmes, workshops, seminars etc.

  • Rural Housing.
  • Rural Roads.
  • Rural Energy.
  • Rural Marketing Infrastructure.

The programmes and policies that are designed and implemented with respect to the above are analysed and necessary policy support extended to the concerned State / Central Ministries by CRI. In addition, the Centre undertakes consultancy projects on request by national and international organisations. Further, the participants attending training programmes at the institute are exposed to the demonstration units established at the Centre for Innovation and Appropriate Technologies (CIAT), NIRD & PR.
